Well, it has been a crazy few days here. My husband hurt his calf a couple of weeks ago. He is a coach and a teacher so the athletic trainer was at our school a couple of weeks ago to check out some kids, he took a look at my husband. He suggested my husband immobilize his calf for a few days. He did this for about 5 days, after he took his boot off, he then spent the next 2 days on his feet at track meets. Well this was the start of our problem. He had a hard time breathing on friday night. But being the stubborn man that he is....he would not go to the emergency room. I had to drag him out of bed on Saturday morning to get him to go to the Saturday clinic that the hospital that I work at has. Once we got there, they sent us straight to the ER they thought that he was having a heart attack. They check all his heart stuff and nothing really gave them any indication that it was a heart attack. So they ran more tests and called a cardiologist in Kearney. The Doctor said that we needed to get to Kearney to have him checked out further but suggested they do a test for blood clots. We were on the way to Kearney in the ambulance when the emt go the call that it was clots. Our trip got much faster then. We made it to the hospital without any clots dislodging but it was a crazy next few hours. They did an ultrasound of his heart, lungs, and calf. He had multiple clots in 4 of the 5 lobes in his lungs and still had multiple clots in his calf. Lots of medicine and 3 days without leaving his bed the threat of the clots dislodging was gone. We still spent the rest of the week in the hospital. He was discharged from the hosptial last Friday. I had to give him lovinaux shots for the next 3 days. We went to our clinic today and his coumaden level was good. The good Lord was shining down on us. This could have been a tragic situation. We just thank God that it turned out for the best. I will post of picture of our 6 year in the hospital bed as soon as out 17 year old shows me how. LOL Well, this is long enough, I will post more about our stay later.
Have a great evening.
